RJLyders [Boy, I have no idea what I am doing wrong, but I have spent several hours over 2 days on 2 different machines trying to simply run the Ruby interpreter. Every time I run the Ruby interpreter it just hangs up and never returns a prompt. I am runnning 1.8.4 on Windows XP. Does anyone have any idea as to why might be causing all of these problems?]
postakutusu [I am experiencing the same on my Windows XP machine using the Cypwin port.]
usa [How did you "run" the Ruby interpreter?]

Oliver [Hi, I just wanted to drop you a comment and thank you for your work. It removes the burden to compile ruby myself on windows. :) Thanks a lot. Best regards, Oliver]

simon harrison [rubygems seems to be causing errors. can't start irb or ri. 'ubygems loaderror']
usa [I don't know anything about rubygems.]
Dave Burt [Simon: it's not a problem with Rubygems, it's a problem with not having Rubygems in the package. Either 1) un-set the RUBYOPT environment variable, 2) install Rubygems, or 3) add an empty file named "ubygems.rb" (that's right, no R in front) to your load path (e.g. lib\ruby\1.8\ubygems.rb).]
greg thompson [where the hell is preview2? have you passed away or something???]
usa [I passed preview2 because its original source tarball had packaging problem and I couldn't compile it with VC++. (of course I knew how to solve the problem, but the policy of this site disturbed making binary.)]
